Lovely old building, lovingly restored. Rooms are simple, spacious and elegant. And resonably priced. The staff couldn’t be nicer and more helpful. The location is perfect – a couple of blocks to Gastown, downtown and Yaletown. The rooms facing the street may get some traffic noise, but it’s manageable.
My wife and I took a risk, having never visited Vancouver and having no idea of where to stay. We stayed at the Victorian for a night and then after a cruise and returning to Vancouver, decided to stay two more nights there. We absolutely loved this place! It has a beautiful vintage vibe and is a very relaxing atmosphere. The location is perfect! Within walking distance to the port and other exciting places downtown. Stay here and you will love it!
I almost switched hotels at the last minute after seeing several recent reviews that were negative about the neighborhood. I’m so glad I ignored those reviews though because we had a great experience here! We booked several rooms to accommodate my relatives, and everyone loved it. It was nice to find a more affordable option in Vancouver that still fit the various needs of my family members. It worked out well because those on tighter budgets chose the shared bathroom option, while those who wanted private bathrooms, etc. were able to select upgraded options. The beds and pillows were so comfortable– everyone in my family is still raving about how great they are. One of my family members was worried at the lack of air conditioning, but later told me that he was totally fine without it because Vancouver cools down so much in the evening. I would definitely stay here again.
I read the mixed reviews here and didn’t quite know what to expect, but I was impressed. My room was very clean, well furnished and comfortable. The shared bathroom was immaculate, and I rarely had to wait to use it. The staff were efficient and for a city centre hotel pretty friendly. I was disturbed one night by lorries behind the hotel, but I was jet lagged and struggling to sleep anyway – I don;t think it was unusually noisy for a city centre hotel. I’d recommend it.
We spent a night here before departing on a cruise from Vancouver. We had a room on the ground floor at the back of the hotel.
The room was quiet and the bed comfortable. The bathroom provided a selection of toiletries and flannels, which was handy and meant we didn’t have to unpack ours.
The continental breakfast was ok, nothing exciting.
The staff were all very helpful, and the hotel was in a good central location. We managed to spend a spare hour wandering round Gastown before being near enough to walk to the cruise terminal.
We’d stay here again if we needed a stopover.
