Working at a themed boutique hotel means just about everyone at the Victorian Hotel has a soft spot for the fun and fabulous. The fall season is a highlight on the leafy, tree-lined streets of Vancouver. But when October rolls around, the fun really starts. For those who love the spooky and quaint, this is a city full of history and mystery. And that often translates into fabulously fun tales of things that go bump in the night. So, if you’re out to have fun while getting seriously scared, gather ’round, because we’ve got a list of the best places to visit in the city.

Halloween 2018 Vancouver Attractions

Fright Nights at the PNE is by far Vancouver’s most popular Halloween attraction, transforming Playland from an amusement park to a thrill park. With eight haunted houses and twenty thrilling rides, guests can opt for traditional scares or enjoy the attractions for the more faint-hearted, such as comedy by The Monsters of Schlock.

If you’re in Stanley Park, and especially if you have kids, the Stanley Park Ghost Train is not to be missed. Every year, Stanley Park’s Miniature Train transforms into the Ghost Train that offers a spooky and magical ride through the forest. The spook factor is mild, but the ambiance can’t be beat. Though the ride is aimed at kids 10 and under, it’s fun for the whole family. Just remember to wrap up warm!

For those who love real-life ghost stories, The Vancouver Haunted Trolley Tour is a perennial favourite in the city. Intended for an over-18 audience, the trolley explores the haunted spots of old Vancouver, including the Mountain View Cemetery, and the Vancouver Police Museum (complete with morgue). Tours last two and a half hours, during which time you’ll learn all about the city’s most notorious ghosts. Just remember to book your tickets well in advance!

Of course, enjoying the season doesn’t necessarily mean being afraid. Maybe a quaint journey through a pumpkin patch is all you want. In that case, Richmond Country Farm, just 20 minutes south of Vancouver, is arguably the city’s most famous pumpkin patch. Pick out your future Jack-O-Lantern, play in a corn maze, or pet some adorable goats.

When you’re dead tired, return to the warmth and indulgence of a boutique hotel inspired by the Victorian era. With electrical heating, soaker tubs, and high-speed Wi-Fi, it’s all the ambiance—and none of the scary inconvenience.
